The Cord

We are connected, My child and I, By an invisible cord, Not seen by the eye.

It's not like the cord That connects us 'til birth This cord can't be seen By any on earth.

This cord does its work Right from the start. It binds us together Attached to my heart.

I know that it's there Though no one can see The invisible cord From my child to me.

The strength of this cord Man could create It withstands the test Can hold any weight.

And though you are gone, Though you're not here with me, The cord is still there But no one can see.

It pulls at my heart I am bruised…. I am sore, But this cord is my lifeline As never before.

I am thankful that God Connects us this way A mother and child Death can't take away!

I am so thankful for the time I had with Courtney.  I cannot begin to express the impact that Courtney has had on my life.  Courtney was such a unique person and I miss her more than I could ever explain.

For all the friends and family of Courtney.....Thank You!!!  Thank you all for loving her while she was here and recognizing what a true gem she was.

Unfortunately, all of our love combined, as powerful as it was, could not overpower the Mental Illness that took over Courtney's precious life!  Please help me to remember Courtney's life before the sickness took hold.  I DO NOT want Courtney's life defined by how it ended.  I want it defined by what she accomplished while here with us and most of all "who" she was.  Courtney had dreams, goals and hopes that were snuffed out by her sickness.  Mental Illness is so serious and needs more public awareness.  My hope is that this Memorial brings attention and understanding to the issue and positive things come from it.

Best Wishes to You All,

Robin - Courtney's Mother
